The 20% project I think was awesome and I would definitely do it again because of what I did for my project. The project I did was I wrote a story and built a 3-D map of the fantasy land
First, the project was stressful, but the final project was awesome and I would want to do it again, something I would want to have is more time. What happened because we didn't have enough time was that we didn’t finish the book so we thought that we could just make book one and leave the reader at a cliff hanging spot and I think that worked well.Secondly, I really liked how we got to choose our own projects. If we didn’t get to choose our own projects then we probably wouldn’t have put as much energy and effort into it, because usually you pick something you like and then you are more interested in your topic you would also work harder on it.
The very first thing we considered was that both Jamie and I wanted to build something and write something so we decided to work together. Then we decided that we would right a fantasy/adventure book and build a 3D map of the place in our book. After that we just started brainstorming ideas for our story and began to write and over the weekend we built the 3D map. We typed the rest of the story, printed it and laminated it and those are the steps we took to make our 20% project.
These are the reasons I thought that the 20% project is a good idea and what steps we took to make it. Now get out there and make your own!!!

Good title Laura! I thought it was really interesting because I thought " What makes this project so amazing" so I wanted to read the blog that you posted. I think that your blog was really good and I really liked how you included how you thought your project was stressful at first. My group ran in to the same problem because at first we didn't know what the heck we were going to do our game board on. The finished project I thought was amazing. I really liked the detail that you put in your map and I liked how you made it 3D. I really liked the genera you based your book on because I think it will appeal to many teenagers and kids like it did to me. All together I think the outcome of your project was amazing and I hope that you and Jamie will at least think about writing a sequel so that you can finish up the book and wont leave the reading wondering as much.
ReplyDeleteGood job LAURA I liked your book and model I read some of it the other day and liked it. You and Jamie are really good at those kinds of things. GOOD JOB :)
ReplyDeleteNice job Laura, i loved you model and cant wait to read your book!! i agree with what you said about time and i had to end my book as a "to be continued..' as well! great post!! ;)
ReplyDeleteI think you and Jamie did good on this project and I liked the different color spelling and you had a really good project.
ReplyDeleteLaura, I appreciate your thoughtful post. You were very honest about the process of creating the story, even to the point of telling us about the stress of not knowing what to do, and then the stress of the deadlines. I think that you captured the necessity of having to make choices and changes along the way, which is a part of nearly all projects of this type. You also reflected on the one thing I hoped for each student, and that was appreciating the opportunity to choose your own topic and go in whatever direction you chose. You nailed it when you reflected that we are more likely to work harder on something we are interested in... I'm glad you found that something and were able to work collaboratively with someone who shared that vision. Overall, a very insightful post, and a great project too! MrB
