ONE DIRECTION INSIDE OUTSIDE MAGAZINE!!

Hard work, trying to finish your 20% assignment. You can pick a thing that  you want to do and they are making a website, designing a game board, website, magazine and many more.

he won that I picked was a magazine, and  I did my magazine on One direction. Stuff that I like about my project was that I added lots of important information and the second thing that I liked about my 20% project  was I added a cool title page with pictures that reflect on the name of the band one direction. After picking this magazine as my 20% project to do I gathered information about the band and like songs, facts, information about them and many more. I really enjoyed this project because we got to pick anything of our choice and the other thing was that we had 3 weeks to finish it. Some things that I would do for next time would be after I finished my whole magazine I should go over and see if there are any punctuation mistakes and the other thing that I will try to work on for next time would be try to add more pages to my magazine. That is my  20% project, and I describe the products that I have created for the project, and some  stuff that I would improve to my project.

In The Hand Of Someone Else Reflection !!

Three weeks, doing a project of your choice. You have complete freedom of what to do, whether you want to build something or write and illustrate a children's book.. the possibilities are endless. You also had the option of doing your project with classmates, or just by yourself.

What I decided to do for my 20% project was write and illustrate a children's picture book, but before i decided to do the for my project me, Sam and Taylor came together because we all knew we worked very well together and we knew we could do a great job on it, I really enjoyed this project not only that it was free choice but that we chose something we knew we would all enjoy doing and spending my majority of the next three weeks doing. After discussing many ideas and topics for our book we finally settled on a book about a mouse and two monsters. We also had to think of the main idea to our story, the problem, setting, and the solution, eventually we decided to do it about a mouse and two monsters, the monsters bully the mouse with his little toy car he had lost at the park.. Then we started writing the book , it took us a few days but we eventually got it done.  Now it was time to start illustrating, it was a hard time trying to decided what to draw for each page, it took us a long time to illustrate (longer then expected) so this is was we did the majority of the three weeks. After we did the final touches on the drawing and the whole book before we had to laminate it and attach the pages together.

If you had to improve things about this project i would probably say, put a small boundary on it just to make sure all students are keeping on task, and able to get there project for sure done in time also when you begin a projects like this were all choices are yours make sure you make good choices with your time for sure... but also make sure what you're doing is going to be used in your project because we had made a few puppets that we never ended up using. I liked how we were able to pick classmates to join us doing our 20% projects, for me i feel as tho i work better in a small group or with a partner.

Extreme Makeover Bedroom Edition

Extreme Makeover Bedroom Edition

I loved the 20% project! I would do it again in a heartbeat! I chose to redo my bedroom. I decided to do this because I wanted to construct something, paint something, so I decided to redo my bedroom because I thought it would be taking on  a challenge! I chose purple and lime green to paint my room with and to splatter paint over the green with white! Overall i spent $153. I bought: a ladies boudoir dresser($85), 2 cans of paint($7), 4 storage bins($60) which added up equals $153! I would try to be more organized next time and think about what I’m going to do before I do it! This is a picture of what my dresser looked like before I started this project! I learned that re-doing my room is harder that it sounds.

Epic Crazy Insane Mcdonald's thing

Using Blogger, please respond to the following prompt:

Explain the 20% project, and describe the products that you have created for the project.
Reflect on decision-making process and steps taken to create your final product.
Consider some of the things that you liked about the project, and also some things that you might change in order to improve the project in the future.

Me and my friend Evan have decided to create a Mcdonald's documentarie about how bad it is for you and what it can do to your body if you don't be careful I think that this project was hard but that is only because we had to find a good editing software but in the end I think the final product we be awesome!

First we were already a week into working and hadn't thought of an idea yet but then Evan suggested we do a mcdonalds documentarie so then we started planning all our stuff then we had to find a editing software and came up with windows movie maker but then halfway through the project we found a twice as good editing software and got the project done in half the time. If I could improve the project I would have changed the editing software and use something like Imovie which didn't work.

So that is our story of how this comedic spin off to supersize me came to be except the fact that we didn't eat mcdonalds everyday for a month just to prove how bad it is for you!

20% of our time doing...WHAT?!

When i first heard about this project i admit i thought our teacher was absolutely CRAZY! What kind of teacher lets there class spend 20% of there time doing whatever they want! BUT that all changed after i heard more about the project and realized that this is one of the smartest things probably the smartest thing ever!
The 20% project was an experience that I LOVED! So it is practically just for 4 weeks 20% of our time is devoted to anything we want. It has some rules such as: We have to do a project, It has to be language based, and it has to be done by the due date; no exceptions. When I first heard about the project I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I wanted either to do: A movie, Or A Book. I also knew what it was going to be about; It was going to be about an Angel who is getting chased by [what I made up] Takers. Takers were creatures that take the shape of man but are 100 times stronger, faster and they are also hybrid. I started on the book right away and slowly started to film the movie. After filming part of the movie I found it was: Bad filming [my brother's fault], to many mess ups [my fault], and way too Obvious[the cameras fault]. So I decided to do the book. I had gotten pretty far and was confident until I found I had one week to do 100 pages of writing SO after hours worth of thinking I decided I would make the book and movie trailer. So it is Thursday and undoubtedly am NOT finished! I loved the fact that the project gave us free will, I also loved the fact that he did set a reasonable due date on the project he also didn't harass us to get it done.To improve the project i would get a bit more on us about finnishing
because half of the class isn't done, Also if you could be a bit more specific on what EXACTLY you wanted from us....that would be great! This project was awesome and i hope we do it again!!!!!
My Amazing  20% Project Reflection!!!!!!
For my 20% project I created a different variety of poems because it is something that interested me and I gave it a try.  What I would  have to say about the project is it was okay because I had to come up with a lot of different ideas for poems, but I did enjoy making up rhymes and poems about random things that I just popped into my mind. When I started the project I was originally going to to a story write a story. I did this because I was hard to come up with a story topic some I decided to do poems. The products that I created for the project was that I made 25 different poems. Some of the poems are rhyming some of them are not. I  also wanted to make my poems unique they weren’t just something I got off the internet. When I was writing these poems I was thinking of what would good rhymes be for each poem. When I was writing the rough copy I made sure that the poems were on topic and didn’t get off the subject. I did this because I didn’t want the poems to look weird and talk about two different objects in the same poem. Steps that I took to create the final product was that I had a cover for the book and came up with my own title, made sure that the poems made sense, made a table of contents for the book , and put page number on them. The thing that I liked about the project was that you got to do whatever you want, you got about three weeks to do it, and that if you wanted to do it with partners or not. I chose not to have a partner. Something that I would have maybe done is have written more poems to make it longer. Those are reasons for why I liked the project, what I did for the project and what things I could have done better if I ever did the project again. So get out there and write cool and interesting poems and show them to your family and peers!
3 Week project! In the Hands of Someone Else!

Have you ever made a 20% project? Have you ever went three weeks working on one thing? Well I have and I’m going to tell you everything thing about it.
A 20% project is a project where you get to pick anything and I mean anything from novels to new apps. It’s where you think of anything language related and make it or write. You don’t have to do it by yourself either you can have a group.
I really liked this idea! I thought it was great, giving a deadline and meeting it and doing something so cool that you had to work on it all the time to be able to get it done in time. For our 20% project we made a children’s picture book, we recorded it on an ipad app so that we could read it to you and were also made a puppet show of the book. At first when we picked our groups we had no idea of what we wanted to do! So then we thought and we thought it would be cool to do a children’s book and that we would other kids books to help us for the outline. Then after we thought of that idea they never stopped we then got the idea to do a puppet show and recoded it and if we really wanted to could make it a digital book and sell it on itunes. The decisions we had to make in this project would have been to think if this project was doable in three weeks and that we would be able to make it look the way we wanted it. We also had to figure out what the problem, setting, characters, and what the book was going to be about. So our book is about a mouse who was at the park and had to walk home alone and when he did the saw the monster brothers who had his car and that is why it is called In The Hands Of Someone Else. Our steps were to create the plotting of the book, write the book, type the book, illustrate the book, laminate the book, then record the book and and make the puppets and do the puppet show, and last but not least hand it in. Some of the things that I liked about the project were we got three weeks to do it and that we got to pick groups. Also how we got to do anything thing we wanted pretty much and we had to make our own decisions about it. I think some of the things that I would change would probably be being organized right from the start sometimes we didn’t know what we were doing like sometimes we made puppets that we didn’t end up using. It was a great learning experience overall and I really enjoyed it.  So if you are ever going to do a 20% project these are some of the things to consider before doing it.

Brainiac Intermediate Addition!!!

Do you think you know everything in the grade seven curriculum from math to science and art and many more. Well my partners Arly Mitchell, Robyn Henderson and I would like to test your knowledge by using are originally designed grade seven based game board called Brainiac Intermediate Edition! Our game board is good for review and practise for tests or just for fun. We know that our game board is good for this because we actually got the grade seven curriculum and made up questions based on it. In each room you go to you would have to collect a specific piece that would correspond with the room that you are in. I had to get al the questions for the cards while Robyn had to design the game board and Arly made up the detention and hall pass cards. The process that probably took the most time was when we had to write out the card and go over them with black marker, erase the lines from the pencil and then colour them. I think that making a game board was a really fun idea and I had lots of fun in the process of making it. I liked how we all worked together and got equal amount of work. I also enjoyed playing the finished product and seeing how everything just all came together and even though we ran into a few problems we just fixed them and just continued on all our hard work until it was finished. I think that some things we could have changed where the amount of materials that we used because we used a lot of paper for the cards and we almost didn't have enough but we cut down the number of cards for each category so we did have enough. Also I think that was should have gotten the rules and instructions done earlier so that we could have printed them off in colour. I had a lot of fun in the process and I am very happy with the outcome and I hope Arly and Robyn did to, and to all our people the wish to play our game board I hope you enjoy it and learn lots.

                   The Fantastic 20% Project
The 20% project that I  worked on with Laura turned out great.
This project was great and I would definitely do it again. We got to choose anything we wanted to and that made the project much more enjoyable.
For example, what I did was write a story, and build the set for it, so Laura, and I got to put our interests into the project. Also the book was a bit more of a challenge because we each had different opinions, but we found a solution. For example, we each had different ideas for the extra details that we added, and what word should be added.
The  20% project was great, and I would definitely do it again! The only thing I would change, I would not want to have to do a log book.

In The Hands Of Someone Else

Image your teacher letting you have three weeks to do any type of project that you want to do with anyone, you could write a book with a group of friends or by yourself, create a comic book or even just think of something original that you thought of on your own... the possibilities is endless, the choice is up to you. You are creating your own 20% project. This is something that is really fun and i think that we should do something like this more often .

For my 20% project i chose to do it with two of my friends, Macie and Sam. After discussing many different things that we could do for our project we decided that we going to make a children's book that incorporated both bullying and taking something that doesn't belong to you. Also we decided that we were going to put it on an app on the ipad and record our own voices reading the story. Last but not least we decided that we were going to make puppets that would go with the story and perform a puppet show to go with the book.

First we came up with characters, setting, solution, and problem for the book, we decided that we were going to use a mouse a a main character and he was going to lose his favorite car at the park and some monster brothers were going to find it and meet up with Josh (main mouse) and they were going to bully josh and not give him back his car. But then all of the sudden Josh’s friend sees what is happening and goes and scares the monsters away, but before Josh knew what happened harry (Josh’s friend) ran away and Josh never Knew what happened.

When we were done writing the book it was time to illustrate it although it took longer then all of us had once thought. Since we figured out that we weren’t going to have enough class time to draw we decided to go to one of the group members house and we finished the book, and when we got back to the school we had someone laminate it then we punched holes into it and put rings through it. Also that day we took pictures with the ipad and record our voices reading it to make a digital copy of the book.

Last but not least it was time to make the puppets as time was almost done we quickly made all the puppets, we made them two sided because that way we could make the puppets face either way depending on what way they needed to face. Also insted of drawing the different scenes on a bunch of different pieces of paper, we just decided that we should make little signs that say what the scene is for example a sign would be held up that say park when they were playing at the park together.

Some of the things that i liked about this project were that you could do whatever you wanted to do and you could do with a group of people or by yourself. Also i liked it because you got so much class time to do whatever you wanted to do. If I could change the project to make it better i would maybe give people a little bit more time, maybe 4 weeks because even though three weeks seems like a long time to do some of this stuff, which it is once you start doing it then it seems like you need more time and i think that if we had one more week then we most likely would have done a little bit better of a job.

Those are the different choices that i had to make for my 20% project and all the different things that i created. Also the reasons why i liked the 20% project and what i would change to it to make it better. So next time your teacher is looking for a new project to try suggest the 20% project.

Braniac Intermediate Addition

Have you ever been playing a game and had the thought of “ This game really sucks” or “this game is so boring?” Well Erin, Robyn, and I have created a fun and very educational game for all the kids in grade 7 and up! Our game is something we have put hours into and we really think you will like. It’s board is based on our very own school, which all you have to do is roll a dice, answer a question or two in every room then if you answer the question right you have to collect a game piece and go to the next room and do the same.  At first Robyn and Erin had a different idea and were going to make a scrapbook. I at that time was going to make an app, but after a few days we all realized that our ideas really weren’t working. So than we all sat there thinking of something to do. We then joined together and Mr.Brock had the best idea he said “ how about you make a game board on the grade 7 curriculum.”  And that is exactly what we did.  First we decided what the game was going to be like. We made it so that you have to go to every room in the school and answer questions on the grade 7 curriculum and collect a specific game piece for each room. Than we started making questions and gameboard. Once that was done we had to write out every card out, go over them with black marker, and then colour the cards, and write on the back. That took one sleepover and 2 periods or more to finish. The things I like about this project are that we all worked hard and equally on this project there wasn’t one person ever doing more work than the other. Also it brought us closer to one another and we found out what pushes each others buttons. The things I might change about our project where our game board would have been coloured and erased a bit better and we could have found a different way to make the cards so we didn’t use as many materials. Over all I had a really great time with Robyn and Erin and I would definitely work with them again. So if you want to play a fun game about the grade 7 curriculum then be sure to play
  BRAINIAC INTERMEDIATE ADDITION !
Brainiac Intermediate Addition
Have you wanted to have all of the grade seven curricular  in one simple game but you also wanted to have fun well then here you go. Me and my friends Arly and Erin were working very hard to come up with the perfect idea, and then we got it. (with a little help from our teacher) We had come up with the amazing idea to make a game board about the grade seven curricular. Here are the steps, on how we finally created this amazing product.
First we had to figure out what we were gonna do, and with help from our teacher we decided to make a board game. But then we need to base it on something so we started thinking and we decided since we are doing this project for school and we were in grade 7 we based it on the grade 7 curriculum. Now that we have chosen a topic we need to start the designing, figuring out how it’s played and assigning each other to do something. So here is how it works, you have to go around the board and answer questions in each room to collect a token and whomever makes it to the start/finish first with all the required tokens wins!
Next we need to figure out who was doing what things, so I got assigned to make/design the game board, Erin was assigned to make all the questions for each category, and Arly was going to find and make riddles for the detention room and hall pass cards. Then when all of that was done we need to write out all the questions on the cards and colour code them, and then we needed to colour the game board. After that it was time to make the tokens for each room and then I was in charge of writing out the instructions, in English and in French.
I really loved doing this project because it gives you some free choice and i really think that you work better when you get to something of your choice, and i think the game board was a great idea, it was fun to make. Some challenges that we faced were trying to agree on what  we were doing, and with the cards because we messed up on a lot of cards so we had to start over.

What have I been doing with 20% of my time?

I am working with Nicole Magnish on my 20% project and we are doing a book about a murder mystery.  Nicole is writing the book and I am drawing the cover and the back.  I drew two covers and let Nicole pick one of them.  She picked the second one.  Then we had to find a title for the book.We decided on SCREAM.  Now that we had the cover and the title,we still had to come up with words for the back of the book.  Meanwhile I was working on the copy cover.  Finally, after some thinking,we came up with the right words for the back.  After that I wrote the words on the copy cover.  Then I started drawing and writing the good cover.  Once I was done that,I colored it and went over the words with marker.  By then I was almost done.  To finish it off,I glued a piece of paper to the inside so the marker wouldn’t show through as much. Then I was done!I liked drawing and coming up with designs. If I would ever redo this project I would like to have better drawing and maybe not so many questions on the back of the cover.  Thank-you for reading!!!

Looking for a good school project

For my 20% me and my partner Eric created a comic novel about the story we created wristshot the mean characters  in the book are the ransons  coach gordie and arnie the book is about the team kirkton kids and how they need a physical  play to turn their season around so they picked up the ransons to help them the ransons are very physical  and will do anything to win. I liked this project because me and my partner booth play hockey and we know a lot about  it so it was fun and we had a good time doing it.  If I was to make it better I wouldn’t do a comic I would do a novel with a picture for every page. We did this project in the software of comic life we had a very easy time with the software and I would consider it if another classmate came and asked me if i knew of a good comic website. Over all I had lots of fun doing this with my partner and was a good experience for me and my partner.

Reflecting !!!!!!!!!
For my 20% project I  would do a few things differently.  I’m not saying it was bad but I’m not saying it was great either. It was ify.
First I would start the research a little earlier than I did.  This way I wouldn’t be as stressed as I was a week before the project was due.   Next time I would scrap the writing out the paragraphs before I type it. Although it did help ( a lot) I found that it slowed me down and I would just not do it next time.  I liked the fact that I got to do basically whatever I wanted to do.  To improve it in the future I would not overuse the name of the animal and the word “they”. So at the moment I am almost done and hoping that I can finish it ( I think I can).  Another thing I would do to improve my project in the future would be to recheck my spelling of certain words ( I’m sure there is a bo in their instead  of no).  Finally I would make the book look a little neater and I think that would make it look better in the future.
So this are my thoughts and feelings about my 20% project.

The most amazing idea for a 20% Project

The 20% project I think was awesome and I would definitely do it again because of what I did for my project. The project I did was I wrote a story and built a 3-D map of the fantasy land
First, the project was stressful, but the final project was awesome and I would want to do it again, something I would want to have is more time. What happened because we didn't have enough time was that we didn’t finish the book so we thought that we could just make book one and leave the reader at a cliff hanging spot and I think that worked well.
Secondly, I really liked how we got to choose our own projects. If we didn’t get to choose our own projects then we probably wouldn’t have put as much energy and effort into it, because usually you pick something you like and then you are more interested in your topic you would also work harder on it.
The very first thing we considered was that both Jamie and I wanted to build something and write something so we decided to work together. Then we decided that we would right a fantasy/adventure book and build a 3D map of the place in our book. After that we just started brainstorming ideas for our story and began to write and over the weekend we built the 3D map. We typed the rest of the story, printed it and laminated it and those are the steps we took to make our 20% project.
These are the reasons I thought that the 20% project is a good idea and what steps we took to make it. Now get out there and make your own!!!

By Laura Vink
for my 20% project  i am working with Nicole Friesen  and we are making a book
it is a murder mystery .we are  doing the writing  and she is doing the cover and illustrations .
the steps we used are “plot the story ,  plot the cover, plot the illustrations , begin writing the story , begin   drawing the cover, begin to  write  the illustrations , finish the book , finish the cover, finish the illustrations , type the book, add  the copyright  page , add the dedication page , add title page ,add other books page.  i loved to do this project because i think we had freedom and i don't like being  chased to get the suction place at a certain time i think this project shows teachers they don’t have to chase us. some things that i might want to change would be  to get it done earlier so i’m not so stressed .

My 20% Reflection

For my 20% project me and my partner, Zack created a graphic novel that included the one, the only, Ranson Brothers. It is based on the series ‘’Slapshot’’ if you don’t know what slapshot is about hockey and in the real movie the stars are the hanson Brothers but in our story it is The Ranson Brothers these characters add comical laughter to the sport of hockey! I steps that I enjoyed of making this graphic novel would be when Zack and I had to take the picture to make this novel a graphic novel. The way I would try and make this project better would be to just make a normal novel and have one picture for each page instead of speech bubbles for every picture. There was many things we had to decide on while we made this graphic novel some of the decision are when we were putting the writing and the pictures we had taken and putting them together in the software called ‘’Comic Life.’’ We had to consider our time that we had to finish this project in. Overall I had a great time doing this project and it was a great learning experience!

20% project

For my 20% project  am writing a book about a girl named Amy whose mom died and she keeps having nightmares about the raven that spooked her moms horse causing her death so she and her friend Matt go on a journey to help her get rid of the dreams. The book is kind of revolving around native culture.
If you dont no what the 20% project is it is were you can choose to do ANYTHING (with some exceptions) you want that should have a language component. I found this project really great because we had the freedom of choice and could pick any topic of interest and there are so many unique ideas.
During this process i did mostly righting and some typing and brain storming. If i could do it again i would more carefully plan it because i ended  up cramming all the typing and other stuff on the last night.
I found the 20% project fun and a great experience all together.

Totally Awsome Mcdonalds Project

Me and my best friend Tom have made a documentary about how McDonalds is so greasy and bad for you and you will be shocked by the results. This task was very difficult mainly because we where going to use imovie and ending out change our minds on the soft-were 3 times and figured out we had to convert the files because the camera was to old and no soft where realized the files so yes... but we think the final product will be TOTALLY AWSOME!

                                                 Super Power
If i could have any super i would choose to have X-ray vision. I would want this power because then i would be able to do a lot of things for different groups of people and i would be a sidekick and not a hero, then everybody wasn’t trusting me just to save them. Some of the advantages of this power are that i would able to see through walls and see if the bad guy was coming so i would be ready. I would also be able to see what weapon they were carrying, so then I could pick the right weapon to defeat him with. I could also use it to help society by being a doctor and if there was anything wrong with a person i could see through them as an x-ray and then i would be helping both the hospital and the patient by finding the problem and then being able to find the right cure for the patient, and i would be helping the hospital by using  my eyes for and x-ray instead of paying lots of money just for and x-ray machine. I would also be able to be/ help a police officer, because if they were on a case and they were in a murder house and they had to check and see if anything was in any of the rooms, so instead of risking their lives i would be able to see through the walls and then tell them what they were expecting. Some of the disadvantages of this power would that my enemy would/could be a lot stronger of have a better power therefore he would be able to defeat me. Also you only have a normal everyday weapon and not a super hero weapon, so i wouldn’t be able to protect myself as well. So for those reason i would choose to have the power of X-ray.

If I had a Super Power

If i were to have a super power , i would want to be able to read human and animal minds. So i can know exactly what they are thinking. These are the reasons why i want to have this super power.

One of the main reasons why I want this power is because its something every different to be able to do. And its one of the best superpowers, way better then turning invisible or into a ball.

First of all you would be able to know when people are lying to you, because you can read there actually thoughts and by that you can also know the truth. Another reason why i would want to be able to read minds is because you would be able find out anything and everything, for example what people actually think of you or what they think of other people. Also an advantage of having this capability is you would be able to read animals thoughts so you could be a famous animal whisperer, and by doing this you could make a lot of money. There are also other ways you could become rich with the power of mind reading, for example the animal whisperer could find out what's wrong with sick animals in an animal hospital and be able to fix them faster.

There  are also some disadvantages to having a super power of reading human and animal minds. Actually there are many, first  you would know everything and some stuff you don't want to know like if your parents and planing on moving or divorcing  and they didn't tell you right away then you would know. Also you would constantly be reading thoughts of people you don't know  and don't care about witch will get very annoying.

Those are the reasons why i would want to be a mind reader, even though there are a bunch of disadvantages to the super power i would still want to have  this power because of all the advantages.
